November 12, 2010

Ping Twitter mashup logo Twitter And iTunes Ping Get Cozy, Cheat On Facebook!Hello, hello, hello! There’s some interesting news coming out of the Twitter Blog today, as it has been announced that Twitter users will now be able to link their accounts up with Apple’s iTunes Ping social network service, the social music network that was launched alongside iTunes 10 back in September.

This is a pretty big step forward for Apple and Ping, as before now it has been somewhat limited without the integration of existing social networks such as Facebook and Twitter. Apple had originally included Facebook integration, but this was pulled after Facebook claimed that they hadn’t approved such a feature.

How does the integration between Ping and Twitter work, then? I’ll leave it up to the professionals to tell you that one…

They have really increased competition especially within the mobile phone industry and have taken technology to a new level. Gone are the days when we had a couple of phones to choose from which all did the same thing. Apple has given us more than a phone which you use to ring people but a complete internet device.

February 9, 2010

heineken bot 251x300 Heineken Beer Serving Robot of the FutureYou might think this sounds strange but at Middlesex University they have managed to create a robotic serving robot which means you don’t need to walk far at all to get your beer. Actually scrap that you will be able to stay on the Sofa and be served, this also might just be perfect for those house parties.

We humans will be able to hover our hands over the sensor in the head to stop the robot then just place your cup in the holder ready to be filled. It will then continue along its serving path ready for the next refill. This has to be assigning of things to come and looks very interesting for the future development of robots. Apple iPad – The Stylish Netbook & Kindle Replacement?

January 31, 2010

apple ipad home screen 298 Apple iPad The Stylish Netbook & Kindle Replacement?Last week saw Steve Jobs unveiling of the much rumoured and long awaited Apple tablet device which has been named the Apple iPad – and that’s just where the opinions start. Some people think that the Apple iPad name makes sense, keeps in-line with the established iPod/iMac branding, but leaves it open to lots of different uses, whilst others think it’s now a bland, uninspiring name.

This tablet device itself (reportedly) has an impressive battery-life of around 10 hours for whatever you use it for, be it browsing the web, reading an e-book, playing HD video, so could this be the thing that kills off the requirement for a netbook for many of us? Well only time will tell, but I think I’d rather take one of these with me when travelling than a relatively “chunky” netbook when all I’d want to do is catch up on sorting my email, browsing the web or watching some video.

January 27, 2010

apple ipod earphones MusicDNA To Replace MP3 As Dominant Music Format?Perhaps the days of MP3′s dominating the world market for music file formats is over. A company called Bach have develop a new format. A format called MusicDNA.

The format is not only just the audio track though, it contains heaps of metadata with such information as artists, artwork, lyrics and even twitter feeds. The developers of the file format claim that with all this extra information bundled in, with any success in the market they can double the price of music downloads. This is certainly a bold claim as many people’s reason for piracy is purely down to the fact that the price of music is ludicrously high as opposed to the dirt cheap albums of yesteryear.
